An exceptional 19th century Blonde Turtle shell on bespoke ebonised and brass stand.
This beautiful creatures would have been caught during 19th century voyages, often caught to feed the sailors they would then spend endless hours stripping them and polishing them to the glossy, pale finish you see here.
Sailors would have used these as currency when returning to port or as presents / souvenirs for friends and family.
